the World Premiere of horror/musical/small-dog/actical/greek-tragedy/comedy "The Sundowe".

…the MARTIANS ARE BUSKING……..there are MILLIONS buried under the streets of Edinburgh, in it's parks and graveyards

more than are alive in the city -

The Sundowe is a musical written by Edinburgh writers and performers John, James and Gerry Kielty, and their band The Martians.

Originally written as a radio show, and later as a television pilot, The Sundowe eventually became the basis for a modern musical.

The storyline centres on The Martians themselves, as their street busking is interrupted by vampires, the local council and the return of dead souls.

It is part comedy, part pathos, and with references to modern Scottish politics, Greyfriars Bobby, street busking & Scottish history.

REVIEWS

“The plot is imaginative and ludicrous in equal measure’ The Inverness Courier

“…a fast-paced extravaganza that never lets up’ The Herald

“…the quirky, fun and utterly scandalous story cooked up by Glasgow’s three Kielty brothers set just the right kind of irreverent tone to open the new theatre .’ Highland News

Right from the impossibly catchy opening number, Our Home, which really does deserve to be the new national anthem, the template is set—wacky, sharp, one-liner lyrics allied to good tunes..’ Hi-Arts

The Martians mix humour and pathos; absurdity and tragedy; to create their bold strokes of out-of-this-world expressions.

Their tunes have a clever playful way with words - with memorable and fun melodies that are full of colour and energy.

Brother James Kielty and third Martian Houston also write for their off-the-wall and upbeat musicals.' P Kieghtley
