Gerry Kielty
I don't have a lot of info on Gerry - but he has to be one of the funniest, most natural comic performers I have seen!
I know he'd like to be a football manager! He's a prolific writer and writes many of the Martians songs with brother John.
He often sings with a VERY high falsetto voice - but is also known to sing with his full voice on stage. He learned his acting craft at the Edinburgh Dungeons and also taking the 'City of the Dead' Ghost tours.
On the high street busking he 'acts' the younger brother part with great effect, and has the crowd in fits laughing. You can see from the photos.
During Martians shows he has acted trees, dogs, a Roman soldier....more. John tells us that Gerry likes to eat through flesh if we don't sing loud enough!
I do have a lOT of pics of him performing - taken the past 4 years at Martians shows and busking at the festival each August (see below)
I’ve seen Gerry leaning against the old stones of St Giles Cathedral, as if lost in his thoughts… perhaps he’s composing new songs….. Then he literally leaps into action when the Martians start busking. He is a very physical performer!
The Martians Wikepedia page says -
John's younger brother, vocalist, performer and lyricist. Gerry frequently adopts an unusual "mouse" style singing voice. His main interest is in writing lyrics and scripts for Martian's shows.
A born entertainer. (Bio Pauline Keightley Sept 2008)
